How To Let Your Skin Age Gracefully - 3

How to let your skin age gracefully part three

As we age our largest organ of our body goes through several physiological and chemical changes causing it to lose the supple, youthful and natural radiance it once had.

Soon we start to notice the first signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles, dry skin or visible pores. While we cannot stop aging, we can at least try to understand, and learn to control some aspects of how we age.

We’ve created this 6-part mini-series on how to let your skin age gracefully that consists of simple, yet effective skincare tips and products, in an effort to help you love the skin you're in, regardless of your age.

Address The Eyes and Neck

It’s a commonly know fact: “The eyes and neck age seven years faster than the face.”

This is because the skin around the eyes and neck is thinner, more fragile and lacking in sebaceous glands that keep the skin supple. The eyes and neck are also areas that experience a lot of muscle movement daily.

The neck acts as a support system and bears the entire weight of the head, while allowing for a wide range of motion. The eyes, on the other hand allow for subtle muscle movements and expression. Not only that, the average person blinks between 14,000-19,000 time a day. That’s a lot of movement for such a delicate area.

This is why we cannot neglect the neck or eyes. Even is someone takes excellent care of their skin, these areas will become a dead away to a person’s real age if not treated with the same level of care.

How Do We Address The Neck And Eyes

It’s never too soon or too late to start taking better care of these areas. Here are some expert tips and recommended products. The sooner you start paying more attention to the neck and eye, the better.

For The Eyes

1. Cleansing

Cleansing is obviously very important. Before starting your eye care routine, the skin around the eye ares should be clean, free of makeup and properly prepped to receive all the benefits of your products.

Avoid tugging the skin around the eye area. We recommend using a cleansing oil to melt away makeup effortlessly using only gentle massage movements as you may have read or watched in the double-cleansing tutorial.

2. Layer Your Serums

Layering serums under your eye cream is a total game-changer!

Any serum that doesn’t contain a high concentration of retinol or vitamin C can be used around the eyes and will give the same anti-aging benefits to that area.

Learn how to layer your serums in part 2 of this series.

3. Use An Eye Cream

One of the main reasons why you should use eye creams is that they contain very specific ingredients chosen to help treat the delicate area around your eyes.

So use an eye cream in the morning and at night. Apply your eye cream starting at the outer corner and work towards the inner corner tapping and circling around the eye area. This will help to drain any stagnant lymphatic fluid and boost circulation.

3. Gentle Exfoliation

Be mindful that the skin around the eyes also needs gentle exfoliation. This can be achieved with professional treatments or an eye mask that contains enzymes such as Swissline Cell Shock Magic Eye Mask.

For The Neck

1. Cleansing

The same logic applies with cleansing, however prepping the skin with a pH balancing toner afterwards will also be beneficial in allowing the skin to receive all the good ingredients.

2. Facial Massage Using Serums

Paying more attention to massaging in your products, you’ll want to apply serums in upward movements, and even stretch the muscles while you apply your serum and cream.

3. Reach For A Neck Cream

Use a neck cream that will address wrinkles and sagging with peptides, retinol and collagen-boosting antioxidants.
